Name: Tinsley Gisele Beryl
Age: 17
Personality:
Tinsley was brought up being given all she could ever want or need except for parents who actually cared. So in that way she is pretty used to getting any material possession that she wants. She was never told no in that respect. However, she spent years of her life trying to gain their love and affection instead of just being handed something new whenever she tried to gain their attention. The only person who ever showed her anything even close to that was her nanny and she lost her at a young age. So she does have a bad habit of clinging to anyone who shows her even the slightest hint of affection, whether real or fake. She flirts with everyone and everyone who responds to it in a positive way becomes a person who she doesn't want to let go and they gain a bit of power over her because of it. It also simply makes her a very loyal person.
Honesty is a the best policy or so Tinsley believes. She doesn't see any reason to lie to anyone about anything. If she doesn't like you, then you will know it. If she loves you then you will know that too. If the dress you picked out is hideous then she is going to tell you. She doesn't like to play games and is a very straight to the point kind of person. In some ways it makes her seem very disrespectful and ill-mannered, but it is simply who she is and she won't be changing that for anyone. Not for the teachers at school, not for her peers, not for anyone. She likes who she is and she thinks she is a wonderful, beautiful person.
She is a girl with a strong level of perseverance. She refuses to leave anything half done or even just partially started. She sets her mind to something and she does it all the way to the end even if it doesn't quite turn out the way that she was expecting. Getting thing done requires a lot of organization and she likes to planning and keep things all neat and tidy. It makes life a heck of a lot easier. You can count on her to deliver if you ask her to do something and getting her to change her mind once she has it set on something can be nearly impossible if not entirely impossible.
History:
Tinsley was destined to be spoiled with all the finest items in all of district 1, living as close a life to the capitol children as she possibly could. Born to a pair of young and wealthy jewelers who treated the child much like a princess in the material items they provided for her she lived a pretty comfortable life. There was always food on the table and good food at that. Desserts could be given as meals if she simply gave them her sweet little puppy dog look. Beautiful jewelry was brought home on a daily bases. New toys whenever the last one got boring. A new outfit each week, bedazzled by her own mother to make them extra special and personalized to the little girl. She was so very spoiled and everything she could ever want was handed to her on a silver platter.
Well, almost everything. There was one very important thing that the young child was missing and that was her parents' love. Outsiders would say that she was very well loved with all the things she received, but the material possessions didn't quite fill the void that was left by her parents not really wanting to spend time with their daughter. As a young girl she was left alone with a nanny of sorts a lot while her parents were working or out or even in just enjoying each others companies as most young couples who didn't have a child would do. A sweet older lady who was a bit on the exotic side. She was kind and took very good care of Tinsley, but there were times when she'd walk in on her talking to seemingly nothing. Once while she was putting her to bed one night she had become panicked very quickly and took Tinsley back downstairs and made her sleep on the couch so she was close by. It had obviously scared the child quite a bit and was the cause of the nightmares that almost always still plague her sleep.
It was a stormy night when Tinsley's parents finally witnessed one of these little episodes. Tinsley was seven and was having a hard time falling asleep due to the storm and the fact that her and sleep just weren't good friends anyway. Her nanny had offered to read her a bedtime story and in the middle of the story she had started screaming and threw the book at the corner of the room. Tinsley had screamed when she did, not really sure what was going on. It was enough to alert her parents and make them come running to the bedroom only to find the older woman screaming at the corner of their daughter's bedroom. Neither of the adults tried to calm there terrified and crying daughter, simply told her to stay in her room as they led the woman down the stairs. That was the last of that woman Tinsley ever saw.
Tinsley did miss the crazy old lady. Sure she scared the heck out of her with the way she acted, but it was also like she was trying to protect Tinsley from some unseen monster. As a child she didn't understand that her caretaker was simply hallucinating and making up these unseen foes and friends in her head. She thought there really was something there. Something that could get her, especially now that the only person who could see them was gone. Not only was she protection, but she is the one who showed Tinsley love. She was the one who would cuddle her. She was the one who read to her and played silly little games with her. She was the one who wiped away tears when she was upset and shared her laughter when she was happy.
Her parents bought her many things, but they were very distant from her and it really wasn't until after the woman was gone that she realized just how little her parents cared. Before they had been the ones who bought her things. If she wanted their attention then they would get her something new to get her away. She'd ask to be read to and they would say they were too busy and to ask her nanny. She would hug them when they got home and she'd get a pat on the head and be handed some fancy new item. They tolerated her and gave her things to keep her occupied. They were replacing a love they didn't feel for her with possessions and saying it was good enough.
It was the next day that they received word that her father's brother and his wife were deceased. They either didn't know why or they never shared the details with their little girl. They just brought a new child into the home, her ten year old cousin, Kyan. It was strange the way that he acted about his parents' deaths, but Tinsley had always heard that everyone dealt with death differently and Kyan was basically being trained to deal with it and inflict it without a second thought. She never saw him cry about it, but maybe it was something he did in his room alone, but whenever Tinsley went in to see he was just staring at some old book. She'd ask him to play and he would just shake his head without a word.
Tinsley's parents did everything in there power to break the child out of his shell and after a while it did work. They pretty much gave Kyan the love and attention that Tinsley had worked so hard and failed to get. Her father would take Kyan to work with him, he would play games with him, and he was constantly out in the yard sparing with him with fake swords so that he could train more in a fun way. Her mother was always giving him hugs and praise for doing things well. She taught him things like cooking and baking, even if he didn't always seem so interested. When Tinsley asked if she could join in she was always told it was Kyan's time and simply handed to some shiny new item that her parents thought would keep her happy and occupied.
The only time they ever did anything as a family was when TInsley was ten and Kyan was thirteen. Mrs. Beryl had been acting off for the past few days. She didn't want to go to work which had been her passion. She didn't even want to spend a ton of time with Kyan or out with her husband like she always did. It was a surprise when her father decided that they were going to take a trip out to a beautiful lake that she had always heard her mother talk about going to someday. They went for the day and Kyan had decided to go for a swim while her parents sat at the water's edge fawning over how strong of a swimmer he had become since taking lessons in school.
Well Tinsley decided that she wanted to be like Kyan. She wanted her parents to be proud of the fact that she could swim without even ever having lessons. It didn't look that hard. She expect to be able to walk into the water and go down a slope, but even at the edge she couldn't stand up in it and started to panic. Instead of praise and pride from her parents she just ended up with water in her lungs, ears, eyes, and nose. It was Kyan who had grabbed her and pulled her back up to the bank on the edge, patting her back a bit as she coughed out as much of the water as she could. Why did he have to go and do that? He had saved her life and it made it a bit harder to despise him when she felt like she owed him something.
A week later it all became pretty clear what had been going on. Her mother had been dying and simply hadn't wanted to say anything. It had been an aggressive disease that even the advanced medical technology couldn't fix. She passed away and even on her death bed she had shown Kyan more love and affection than she had ever once shown Tinsley. The love and affection that she had craved and given to her parents despite the fact that they never deserved it and never returned it. She didn't cry. There was no point crying over someone who wouldn't have cried for her if the tables had been turned. She didn't deserve her tears. She didn't feel enough for her anymore to cry. Kyan had though and he had made a promise. A promise to enter the hunger games and win for her.
Over the next year her father remarried a younger woman who didn't have any children. They were free to spend their life living like a couple of teenagers who had just fallen in love and didn't have a care in the world. She took her mother's place in the jeweler business and it was decided that if he were to ever pass she and Kyan would become the owners, not Tinsley. The gifts stopped coming and contact was pretty much lost. Kyan spent all his time training for the hunger games which basically just left Tinsley alone at home by herself until Kyan entered the 67th hunger games and won, bringing home quite a lot of riches and pride with him and a special pride for himself that he had kept his promise to his aunt who he loved so very much.
He took Tinsley in, letting her live in the victor village with him so that she didn't have to be around her father and his new wife who had turned pretty cruel toward the girl. It was never physical, no, but the woman and Tinsley did not get along and her father obviously preferred her company than his own daughter's. Kyan saved her from having to deal with them, but it didn't fix anything. No amount of kindness from him could fix what he had taken from her. What he had been given that she had worked so very hard for. No, he was going to pay one way or another. She just had to wait for the right timing. She had to wait for him to have something that was worth taking away.
Things got complicated when her cousin married some bitch of a girl spontaneously and moved her into the house with them. Just a few short weeks before Tinsley found out that she was pregnant with Ves' child. Ves volunteered for the games before she was able to actually tell him, but she snuck away to the Capitol with a Victor named Geo. She was able to tell Ves, though he didn't react the way she had hoped and so she isn't sure what to do now. She just knows she wants to be with her child and away from everyone else.
Strengths:
1- Perseverance - She never leaves anything half done. The job will always be finished.

4- Singing - Singing is her one...useless talent.
5- Organized - She likes to be organized and do things in a planned way. She doesn't like to be spontaneous.

2- Darkness - She is terrified of the dark still.
3- Attached - She becomes easily attached to those who show her even the tiniest hint of love.
4- Conceited- Like many of the children in district 1 she has the sense that she is one of the best.
5- Disrespectful- It takes quite a bit to earn her respect and it's not something everyone gets.
