Everett gave a simple nod at his question. "Yes, I am completely sure that it is not you. Linus...if he didn't like you then he wouldn't keep you around. He likes you. He doesn't hate you at all. He's just entirely stressed and sad." he said quietly. He wished that he could help Seneca more too, but there was nothing more he could do other than to be there for him and to try and cheer him up the very best that he could. He was going to try and cheer him up before the interview tonight with good food and nice drinks and quality best friend time. He smiled at Linus' comment. "You won't mess up and even if you do it will be fine, but we are going to work on that. We'll figure out what needs to be done to keep that from happening and then everyone will want you to work with them." he assured him, patting his back a bit.
His smile fell at the sadness in the boy's eyes and the way he spoke. It broke his heart really. It was easy for Everett to just brush things off. He didn't think that everyone was good like Linus seemed to. He didn't have that innocence. "Linus...some people are just mean. Sometimes they have a reason why, never a good one, but sometimes they do it just because that is how they are." he tried to explain, shaking his head a bit. He took a breath. "The people who care about you are the ones you should trust and believe and be good to. People like me. People like Seneca. Have either of us ever done anything mean to you? Said anything mean? Asked you to do some sort of silly thing?" he asked. "The people who do that stuff are the ones who aren't your friend."
He looked to Seneca quietly and shrugged a bit. "He is just worried that you don't. Just sort of the way you have been acting lately, but I assured him that it wasn't him that you were upset with. Just everything else you are dealing with." he said quietly. He didn't know how else to explain things, but he wanted to make sure Seneca convinced the boy everything was fine before they had to leave.
